 An interesting beginning with a slightly fresh approach.

The love story set against the backdrop of a war between humans and werewolves is captivating—slow and agonizing.

I couldn’t bring myself to hate Blake. I probably was supposed to, but he’s far too charming—he’s that kind of villain. Alongside him, we have the Wolf King, who is also the kind of character you love to hate, yet feel a spark of attraction toward. He has a backstory that gives him a solid motive. Villains are made, not born.

The setting in which the story unfolds is enchanting. It’s the first book with Scottish influences that I’ve read.

From the first 20 pages (even less, actually), it keeps you hooked, and from the halfway point on, I couldn’t put it down.
The ending is the cherry on top—it makes me want to read the next volume. Even if the real story seems to begin only at the end, it was still a full, promising book.

The only thing that bothered me was Aurora. A spoiled princess who can’t seem to find any motivation to fight in any way—there’s always someone there to save her.

There’s also a kind of love triangle that reminds me a bit of the one in the ACOTAR series.
I hope it will be just as good.

This year, I had the great pleasure of discovering the books of Polish author Weronika Anna Marczak, and I was absolutely amazed. It’s been a long time since a book managed to captivate me like this one did. I devoured it in just four days, despite my busy schedule.

I could barely find time to breathe, yet somehow, I always found time for this book.

Hailie, a fourteen-year-old girl, loses both her mother and grandmother in a terrible tragedy—a car accident that completely turns her world upside down. Who will take care of her now? Will she end up in an orphanage? Consumed by grief and uncertainty, she soon learns she has five half-brothers living in Pennsylvania, and the oldest of them is her legal guardian. Hailie leaves behind the once-warm home of her lost family and heads for America.

The Monet family is surrounded by mystery, and no one explains anything to her. Some rules must not be broken, and questions must never be asked. Secrets fill the entire mansion. Her new family gives her everything—expensive clothes, a private school, her own room, a housekeeper—yet Hailie doesn’t feel at ease in a house ruled by restrictions and silence. Her brothers seem strange, cold, and distant. They want to protect her at all costs, while the atmosphere grows increasingly tense. Who is threatening Hailie? What are the Monet brothers hiding?

Don’t judge me, but I chose this book because of the cover. Lately, I’ve stopped reading synopses and instead rely on covers and recommendations.
I don’t regret this choice one bit.

From the very first page, we’re thrown into trauma—the event that triggers everything. It’s rare for a book to be this engaging from page one. Usually, I give every book a “30-page patience test,” but this one didn’t need it.

This is a story suitable for readers 14+. There are no spicy scenes, only a few moments of violence.

Throughout the book, Hailie really got on my nerves. She constantly acted like a spoiled little girl, always in conflict with her brothers. Yet despite all the frustration she caused, I couldn’t bring myself to dislike her.

The author writes in a vivid, captivating way and builds diverse, believable characters. You can clearly see their evolution and growth as the story progresses.

 We are gently guided through the characters’ traumas, and the relationships between them are beautifully described—each one a little different. The intensity of first love, betrayal, and the slow unveiling of the Monet family’s secrets are among the highlights of the story.

“The Monet Family: The Treasure” is clear proof that a YA novel can be gripping without vulgar language or explicit scenes. The plot is so engaging that you won’t even notice the time passing.
Fortunately for us, the next three volumes are also available in Romanian, published by Litera.

 Anul acesta am avut marea plăcere de a mă intersecta cu cărțile autoarei poloneze Weronika Anna Marczak și am rămas uimită. A trecut mult timp de când o carte m-a captivat în felul acesta. Am devorat-o în doar 4 zile, în ciuda programului meu încărcat.

   Nu îmi găseam timp să respir, dar cumva găseam mereu  timp pentru carte.

Hailie , în vârstă de paisprezece ani, își pierde mama și bunica într-o tragedie teribilă– un accident de mașină care îi dă complet viața peste cap. Cine va avea grijă de ea? Va merge oare la orfelinat? Pradă durerii și incertitudinii , adolescenta află că are cinci frați vitregi care trăiesc în Pennsylvania, iar cel mai mare dintre ei îi este tutore legal. Hailie părăsește căminul cândva plin de căldură al familiei pierdute și se îndreaptă spre America.

Familia Monet este înconjurată de mister , iar fetei i se explică nimic. Există reguli care nu trebuie încălcate și întrebări care nu trebuie puse, iar secretele umplu întreaga reședință. Noua ei familie îi oferă totul: haine scumpe, o școală privată, cameră proprie, menajeră, dar Hailie nu se simte în largul ei într-o casă guvernată de interdicții și ordine. Frații ei par ciudați, reci și inaccesibili. Vor să o păzească cu orice preț, în timp ce atmosfera din casă devine din ce în ce mai densă. Cine o amenință pe Hailie? Ce ascund frații Monet?

  Nu mă judecați , dar am ajuns să aleg această carte pe baza copertei. De ceva timp nu mai citesc sinopsisul și mă bazez pe copertă și recomandări. 
  Nu regret că am făcut această achiziție.
  Din prima pagină avem trauma, evenimentul care declanșează tot. Rar pentru o carte să fie interesantă chiar de la prima pagină . Obișnuiesc să le ofer " răbdarea celor 30 de pagini" tuturor cărților citite , dar aici nu a fost cazul. 
  Este o carte adecvată pentru +14. Nu are scene spice , doar câteva scene mai violente.

  Pe parcursul lecturii, Hailie m-a enervat groaznic. Tot timpul se purta ca o mică răsfățată , aflându-se într-o luptă continua cu frații ei. Cu toate neplăcerile pe care le-a creat, tot nu m-a putut face să o urăsc.
  Autoarea descrie într-un mod captivant acțiunea și construiește personajele divers și  credibil. Se observă o evoluție a acestora , o schimbare pe parcursul povestii. 

  Ne trece ușor prin traumele personajelor și descrie frumos relațiile, ușor diferite, dintre acestea. Intensitatea primei iubiri, a trădării prietenilor și înaintarea lentă în lumea secretă a familiei Monet sunt câteva dintre cele mai importante puncte de interes.

"Familia Monet: Comoara" este dovada clară că o carte pentru adolescenți poate fi interesantă și fără limbaj vulgar și scene fierbinți. Povestea este atât de atrăgătoare, încât nici nu vei observa când a trecut.
Spre norocul nostru, următoarele trei volume sunt traduse și la noi , la editura LITERA.
